In the heart of the Old Town of Chania, this three-story building is restored with respect to its architectural features in order to be reused as a boutique hotel after years of neglect and deterioration. Different phases and materials (such as stones and bricks) emerge from the walls and are left exposed, reflecting the history of the building and enriching the visitor's experience with all kinds of different textures. Interior design is also based on the same philosophy. The selection of materials, and unique pieces of furniture, refers to the earth of Crete and the Mediterranean lifestyle. Special constructions such as the concrete wash basins are made by local craftsmen emphasizing the charm of artisanal and handmade items. The project won the Best Greek Design Gold Award at the Greek Hospitality Αwards 2024.
